Buffelwevers (Bubalornithinae) zijn de geslachten Bubalornis en Dinemellia samen.

Ze bouwen een groot nest met het in elkaar steken van stokken, ze weven niet.
Beide geslachten danken hun naam aan hun verspreidingsgebied of habitat.
Ze volgen kuddes Afrikaanse buffels of kafferbuffels (Syncerus cafferom) om de insecten te eten, die deze buffels opjagen.
Bubalornis bestaat uit twee delen; “boubalos” and “ornis”, wat buffel en vogel betekent.

Buffalo weavers (Bubalornithinae) are the genera Bubalornis and Dinemellia.

They built large nest structures of sticks. They don't weave. They have a unique rigid phalloid organ on the abdomen.

Both genera thank their name to their habitat. The name Bubalornis is a combination of the Greek words boubalos, meaning "buffalo" and ornis, meaning "bird".

The buffalo part of Dinemellia derives from its habit of following the African buffalo (Syncerus cafferom), feeding on disturbed insects.
